St. Croix Support

This message is from Dave and Shelley Claeys, Youth Pastors for St. Croix Christian Church (SCCC). Partners with Youth With a Mission. We had the honor of hearing the Claey's speak at The Crossing on September 24th

Even as we begin to grasp the sheer devastation that has taken place on our beautiful island, we are so aware of God's presence and the fact that He has a plan for us a plan to prosper us and give us a hope and a future. Despite our individual circumstances, this is a time when we, as Christian brothers and sisters, must come together and shine a light into the darkness, helping each other rebuild our lives.

A Plan of Action To begin the healing process, Shelley and I are in Florida putting together a program to raise funds so that St. Croix Christian Church will be able to meet some of the most pressing needs of its body and the wider St. Croix community. We will soon be speaking at several local churches in the Orlando/Central Florida area to draw attention to the needs of the residents of St. Croix. Our hope is to raise the money necessary to purchase enough supplies to fill a container that we can ship to the church and share with both the church body and other residents throughout St. Croix. Once we have collected enough donations, Shelley and I will begin purchasing the items people are telling us are most needed things like solar lights and lanterns, flashlights and batteries, heavy-duty work gloves, chain saws, pole saws, generators, tarps, extension cords, trash bags, and machetes, as well as some non-perishable food items, water and baby formula. We will adjust this list as we hear of new or changing needs. We have also arranged for a container to be delivered to the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) base in Orlando when we are ready to fill it, and we have secured a discounted shipping rate through Crowley Shipping to deliver the supplies to the island. Other than the shipping costs, 100 percent of the funds we collect will go directly towards the purchase of the relief supplies. After the container is delivered to the YWAM base, we will have five days to fill it. We have already arranged for customs clearance in St. Croix and for leaders from St. Croix Christian Church to handle the equitable distribution of the supplies. This is a work in progress; we expect it will take several weeks to complete these tasks, and we will keep you updated as things progress.

How You Can Help If you would like to donate to help us purchase the items on our growing list of needs, please use the Paypal donation link on the St. Croix Christian Church website at http://www.stcroixchristianchurch.com/online-giving/ , please be sure to mark your donation Maria Relief Effort. The church is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, so your donation will be tax deductible. Though we may be facing unbelievable trials, remember that our God IS an awesome God! He reigns from Heaven above, with wisdom, power and love and He is in control of each of our individual lives. He knows every detail and every worry. And He will supply our needs.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 F

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
