Our leadership team, which we call the 'GPS Team,' exists to GUIDE, PROTECT, and SERVE the Crossing Church family. They meet regularly to pray for our church and seek God's direction for the future. Here are the current members of the team:
…came to faith at the age of five, and still strives to maintain a childlike trust in God :) He has been with the Crossing since before it had a name (see 'our story' for a bit more), and enjoys leading worship, doing dramas and hanging with people at his 'office' at Panera to talk about spiritual next steps. He loves to read biographies (current goal: to read 'through' the presidents; on Martin Van Buren right how--only 36 to go!) His favorite band these days is Gungor and occasionally, he jumps out of airplanes.
He loves the fact that we don't take ourselves too seriously and can't wait to see where God is taking us next!
…decided to follow Christ in his late twenties and got hooked on the Crossing in July 2007. Tom takes point with our Community Outreach Team and is one of our favorite Sunday morning guest speakers. He is passionate about spending time with his two daughters and is also a Disney aficionado.
He loves the Crossing both because we’re like a family that makes newcomers feel comfortable and because it is “a place where we put faith into action.“
Tom Whitney (yes, our 2nd 'Tom')...
... became a follower of Christ when he was nine and began attending The Crossing when it was only two weeks old. Tom currently serves as a Lead Usher, Tear-down captain and Property Development Team leader. Whew!
He typically jogs more than twenty miles a week (even when nobody is chasing him!) and enjoys being on a golf course. Notice he didn't say 'playing golf,' because that would give the impression he knows how :)
Tom loves the Crossing "because it feels like home when you walk through the doors. 'Come as you are' is truly lived out here."
...became a follower of Christ in high school when a friend asked him if he had given his life to Christ. After growing up Catholic and attending parochial school, Steve knew in his head that Jesus was the Son of God, but realized that he had not asked Him into his heart! Steve loves working in KidzCrossing with his wife and ministry partner, Troyce.
With their very busy work and school schedules (both have been working on Masters Degrees), when they can make some free time they try to have a date night or make up a reason to visit their son, Andrew, in the Daytona Beach area. Steve works for Disney, and feels blessed to put his degree in Music to use at least a little by performing in the Candlelight Processional at Epcot each year.
When asked Steve said "I love the Crossing because we are a church with a local and global mission to reach people for Christ."
